Fillers
What are fillers?
Also called soft-tissue fillers, dermal fillers, soft-tissue augmentation. As we age, our skin loses its youthful fullness. Fillers help to restore lost fullness to the face, lips, and hands.
Fillers are popular for several reasons. Patients like that they can return to everyday activities immediately after getting most fillers. They like the immediate results that many types of fillers deliver. Patients also like that they can get this treatment during an office visit.
Some fillers require a few office visits.
Fillers can effectively:
Volumize Lips
Plumping the lips might be today’s most well-known use for dermal fillers, thanks to certain celebrities (who may or may not over plump!).
Plump Cheeks
The cheeks are an area that tends to experience volume loss with age, especially for runners & those who participate in high impact exercise. Expertly injected fillers can restore volume & the youthful appearance to the cheeks.
Fill in Forehead Lines
Unlike Botox, which temporarily paralyzes muscles to eliminate the movement causing certain wrinkles, fillers reduce the appearance of static lines visible even when the face is at rest. The injections do this by literally filling in the lines with hyaluronic acid, an already naturally occurring component of the skin.
Reshape the Chin or Nose
Dermal filler injections are commonly used as a nonsurgical option to reshape areas such as the chin, jawline or nose.
Eliminate Marionette Lines & Nasolabial Folds
Marionette lines are those lines below each corner of the mouth that can significantly add age to ones face, and as you probably already guessed, resemble those of a marionette doll. Fillers can very easily fill in that lost volume in these lines to instantly take years off a face and restore balance with the rest of the face.
Reduce Appearance of Scars
Scars can create indents & uneven texture, and are especially unwanted on any area of the face. Even if they are barely noticeable to others, facial scars are a common insecurity for people who have them. Fortunately, dermal fillers can be used to lessen the appearance of scars & even out the surrounding texture.
